Crisil’s India Infrastructure Conclave on India’s decarbonization journey

5

Days remaining

Decarbonisation has held centre stage in discussions on development and the environment for years now. And since COP21, where long-term goals were set for achieving a substantial reduction in global greenhouse gas emission to hold global temperature increase to well below 2oC above pre-industrial levels and strive to limit it to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels, governments have made visible efforts to this end across sectors.

India's decarbonisation vision is anchored in its updated First Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070, released in August 2022. Key commitments include reducing the carbon intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030 and increasing the share of cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources to 50%.

The road to decarbonisation is an uncharted path and will require coordinated efforts from all stakeholders concerned, including but not limited to businesses in hard-to-abate sectors, green energy companies, technology companies, startups, multilaterals, funding agencies, and policy and regulatory institutions.

The 5th edition of CRISIL India Infrastructure Conclave will bring together stakeholders from all those segments and more to discuss, deliberate and exchange views on India's decarbonisation journey, yielding valuable insights.

The areas of focus would be:

  • Sectoral de-carbonisation pathways and challenges
  • Greening Infrastructure and urban mobility
  • Financing of decarbonisation

The conclave will feature an address by the Guest of Honor, Hon'ble Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Prahlad Joshi, panel sessions with industry leaders on various aspects of decarbonisation.
